WhiskyFest Is Coming to Town

whiskyfest-header-new2016My drinking life has been guided by two principles, both of which have served me well. The first is “Be wary of dairy,” so I’ll pass on the White Russians and Pink Squirrels, thanks. The second is, “If it’s brown, put it down,” which makes my husband very sad because apparently I’m missing out on a whole other world of potential obsession. I may just have to reconsider my attitude toward the brown stuff because WhiskyFest is coming to town on March 18 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. (Actually, it’s coming to DC, San Francisco, and New York as well.) WhiskyFest, now in its 17th year, is presented by Whisky Advocate magazine and gives you the chance to sample from a selection of more than 300 whiskies from around the world. While early admission tickets are sold out, regular admission tickets are still available for $245, which gets you into to the grand tasting from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., all seminars (on a first come first serve basis), a commemorative Glencairn crystal nosing glass, gift bag, program booklet, and pen. Oh, and you’ll get to enjoy the “never-ending gourmet buffet,” which is probably the thing that will get me in the door. Learn more and purchase tickets online.
