Something that I wish wouldn’t happen: when people use the excuse of “it’s too far” to attend Freaky Deaky*, a three-day music festival featuring an array of electronic, hip-hop, and genre-bending acts. Many people from Chicago are spoiled by the convenient locations near the city that are able to host festivals throughout the spring, summer, and even fall. And it makes sense! I get it. I was one of them. But what they’re missing at Freaky Deaky is the insane production, the clean sound, and the staff that makes sure that each piece that goes into this festival is what the attendees are looking for.If you couldn’t attend this year, enjoy my photo diary, highlighting the weekend’s top sets and unforgettable moments. The lineup doesn’t have to include every artist you prefer in order to enjoy yourself. Just grab a friend and go, and you’re set for a good night.
* Freaky Deaky was held this year at Toyota Park, 71st Street and Harlem Avenue in Bridgeview. Come on, folks, that isn’t nearly as far as the amphitheater in Tinley Park that has another new name. That’s at 191st Street!
