Indie Writers Host Reading at Women & Children First

Every Thursday night a group of writers meets in various locations on the south side of Chicago. They call themselves the “Indie City Writers.” Being a part of the club means showing up to the Thursday night meetings, practicing writing exercises with the group, taking part in the workshops taught by local writers or group members, and exchanging writing samples. Some of the members are published authors, others are trying writing out as a regular exercise. Writers workshop nonfiction narrative, short fiction, poetry, and personal essays. All styles and abilities are welcome. Opinions are shared politely, but freely. A few Indie City Writers (left to right): Della Leavitt, K.B. Jensen, Tom Boyle, Marissa J. McCants and Daniel DeLeon.
