Get Funky with Mike Zabrin’s Funktastic @ Reggie’s

Mike Zabrin is a jack of all trades at the mere age of 24. A songwriter, producer, arranger, and bassist, Zabrin has formed his own collective group, now known as Mike Zabrin's Funktastic, and they're here to bring their groove-inspiring sounds to Reggie's on Thursday night. This group is not made up of fledgling rockers; rather, you'll find members hailing from Kool & The Gang, Parliament-Funkadelic, Fishbone, and The Big Ol' Nasty Getdown. With the combined experience in this group, you won't find a better mashup of funk musical stylings. Their sound is mainly funk, but also brings in touches of soul, R&B, and even jazz, with ample horn appearances and a diverse musical archive. Their debut album took nearly two years to make. Released in 2014, Funktastic works to showcase the signature sound they zoned in on from the get-go. The best part about their work? It's always changing, especially in a live setting. You'll find local artists continuously joining their live lineup, from backup singers, trombonists, to soul crooners. Experience Mike Zabrin's Funktastic for yourself this Thursday; you absolutely won't regret it. Mike Zabrin's Funktastic will be playing Reggies on Thursday, April 21. Bassist Pennal Johnson will be opening the show. This 21+ concert begins at 8pm, with tickets costing $7. Reggies is located at 2105 S. State St., (312) 949-0120.
