Sky Forest at the Garfield Park Conservatory Simply Stunning

We're only four days out from Christmas, everyone! We here at Third Coast hope the rest of your holiday planning, travelling and shopping go well, but we also hope you take time to enjoy what the city has to offer this Christmas. There's window decorations, the Walnut Room's tree, all the lights on Michigan Avenue, and a plethora of lights to take a drive to see. YIf you've got some free time and are yearning for a walk in a winter wonderland, we highly recommend a trip out to the always-beautiful Garfield Park Conservatory for its 2016 holiday flower show, titled Sky Forest. Sky Forest emulates a walk through wintry woods, with over 130 Fraser firs adorned with 15,000 lights. It's a sight to see night or day, with Spanish moss dripping from the forest above, and shocks of color from an amazing variety of poinsettias peeking out from lush greens of different textures and shades. Sky Forest is a beautiful boon to an already gorgeous Garfield Park. If you find yourself in need of a shopping slowdown, mid-week break, or a great place for a family Christmas photo, we could not recommend Garfield Park Conservatory more. As always, admission is free (though we also encourage donating to keep Garfield beautiful), there's ample parking, and it's easily accessible from the CTA Green Line. Garfield Park is at 300 N. Central Park Ave. (3600 west). The conservatory is open daily from 9am to 5pm and Wednesdays til 8pm and Sky Forest will run through January 8. Click here for more information.
