TCR Mixtape No. 20: Shoop Shoop Into Spring

mixtape Alright, I'll be honest. My original theme was going to be songs infused with dreamy vibes (that's up for my next turn, I promise!). But, if you're like me and had all of your Seasonal Affective Disorder dissipated within the past two days, you'd be okay with my changeup here. Climate change is real, evidenced by our 60 degree weekend here in Chicago—one that I will gladly take right now. No matter your political affiliation, it's no secret that we've all been through a tumultuous time this year. So, happy music is more than welcome. Every year without fail, I find myself listening to a lot of soul, motown, and doo-wop when it's finally time to open the windows and let in that spring breeze. Although winter is still around for a few more weeks at least (here's looking at you, Punxsutawney Phil), music is consistently a marker for the changing of the seasons for me. This new warmth ushered in new grooves, too. And bliss-filled ones, at that. Therefore, shoop shoop your way into spring with me and take a listen to this playlist, stocked with tunes from the '50s, '60s, and '70s to put a necessary grin on your face during the deepest depths of winter. It's a vital reminder that sunshine is truly just around the corner.

(I know, I know—it's a little longer than usual. But there are a lot of decades here, and it's been a long winter. We've earned this playlist.)
