Darkest Before Dawn: A Dark Circus of Music, Theater and Fashion

Friday, June 30, is the time to get your gothic on for a good cause, and for a night of entertainment. Collaboraction Theatre Company is hosting  Darkest Before Dawn: A Dark Circus of Music, Theatre and Fashion, an immersive event to raise funds for their celebrated Youth Theatre Ensemble, the Peacemakers. The event promises to be a real mash-up of talent and artistic genres, exploring the gothic side of things with live music, fashion and theater all in one swoop. The all-star line-up includes the DJ trio Dark Wave Disco, Black Plastic (a band described as having an “indelible sense of dread combined with manifestations of dark wave and synth pop”), a fashion spectacle by The Order (similarly goth, read below), Kelroy (a band dubbed “Dark and raw yet uplifting”), DJ Heaven Malone, the Peacemakers and founding Collaboraction Company member Sandra Delgado (La Havana Madrid). As for fashion, there is The Order, a conceptual women's fashion label that weaves together innovative design, high quality craftsmanship and wearability to create a powerful story that is both dark and feminine. In case you are wondering if this event is worth busting out the eye liner and black boots, think about the good work Collaboraction does to combine the immediacy of art with social outreach and commentary. Collaboraction collaborates with artists, community activists and citizens from throughout the city to create original theatrical experiences that push artistic boundaries and explore critical social issues with a diverse community of Chicagoans. Collaboraction has worked with more than 3,000 artists to bring more than 60 productions and events to more than 100,000 audience members. General admission is $15. You can purchase Funder tickets for $40 in advance/$50 at the door, which include access to a private balcony, a Darkest Before Dawn gift bag, appetizers and drinks. The Funders reception starts at 7pm. Doors open at 8pm. Black attire encouraged. For tickets and information, visit Collaboraction or call 312-226-9633. https://vimeo.com/222792273
