We are a week away from the solar eclipse! Before every one drops what they're doing to experience that cosmic beauty, you have a full week of fun events ahead of you. Make the lead up to the day just as entertaining with all these fantastic readings, concerts and genre-defying art. Let's given your week a fresh start! MONDAY, AUGUST 14th  Salonathon: Wish You Well @ Beauty Bar, 1444 W. Chicago Ave., 8:30PM WHAT: A weekly show of experimental work featuring an inclusive creative community throwing  a great party! SO WHAT: The them of this week’s Salonathon is Wish You Well: a chance to to honor, let go and wish well.  Join the party and experience a line up of fantastic Chicago artists perform some underground, emerging, and genre-defying art and stick around for a fun community that will hit the dance floor with jams provided by DJ Danny Leroy afterwards. TUESDAY, AUGUST 15th Tuesdays on the Terrace @ Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, 220 E Chicago Ave. 5:30PM WHAT: Enjoy an evening of free music on the MCA’s Anne and John Kern Terrace Garden SO WHAT: This annual summer performance series, hosted by Al Carter-Bey rom WDCB 90.0 FM and Richton Guy Thomas from WHPK 88.5 FM, highlights artists from Chicago’s internationally renowned jazz community. This evening will feature Twin Talk! In case of rain, the event moves inside to the MCA’s Kovler Atrium. NOW WHAT: The concert series is free and open seating is still available on the terrace or bring a blanket to relax on the lawn. There are limited dining options until July 4, 2017, which is when MCA returns to their regular food service including a buffet, which features a changing menu of themed dishes using fresh, locally grown produce for $30 per person. WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 16th Pop out at h! bar @ The Hollander, 2022 W North Ave., 6:00PM WHAT: A showcase of some of the most talented musicians and culture makers in the city. SO WHAT: This monthly series presented by Young Chicago Authors brings together the best talent Chicago has to offer for an insight into our city’s vibrant cultural renaissance. This month’s event is hosted by Kevin Coval and features live performances and readings by Kaina Castillo, Jose Olivarez, and LyriQ The Misfit. There will also be a live DJ Set by DJ Ca$h Era. NOW WHAT: There is no cover for this all ages show. Must be 21+ to drink. Come on time and get half off all your drinks from 6pm-7pm!
WAVY I.D. & Paul Cherry w/ Feeltrip DJs & EO lightshow @ The Owl, 2521 N Milwaukee Ave., 9:00PM WHAT: Free tunes from local musicians SO WHAT: Ever want to check out the latest musical marvels our wonderful town has to offer? Then I would suggest hitting up The Owl for this show featuring the cool sounds of WAVY I.D. and Paul Cherry! Then enjoy an EO Light Show soundtrack by the Feeltrip DJs all night long.
