This weekend in Lincolnshire, the Marriott Lincolnshire wraps up its nearly tw-month-long run of Honeymoon in Vegas. When the musical arrived on the scene in 2015, it was praised for its "garish wit" and on stage style and music choices. This weekend though, it should be recognized (and attended) for another reason.
Las Vegas has been on many minds in the past few days because of the horrible events at the Route 91 Harvest Festival just outside the Mandalay Bay hotel. And it's been on the minds of the cast and crew of Honeymoon in Vegas as they close out their production of the show in north suburban Lincolnshire.
So they decided to do something. The Marriott Theatre will be collecting donations after each of the five remaining shows this weekend, to help the victims and their families. All funds collected will go directly to the official Las Vegas Victim's Fund GoFundMe page, which you can also choose to donate to now if you will not be attending a performance.
Performances of Honeymoon in Vegas this weekend will be tonight at 8 pm, Saturday October 7 at 4:30 and 8 pm, and then 1 and 5 pm on Sunday, October 8th. Tickets for the show can be purchased here.
"The heart of this show is Las Vegas and everything wonderfully complex and beautiful about this city," said Terry James, executive producer of Marriott Theatre. "Our hearts are broken, but hope that the money raised this weekend will help the people directly affected."
We recommend this show, especially as a way to celebrate the spirit of Las Vegas itself in a time when that can be hard to remember, but even if you don't end up making the trip to Lincolnshire, you can join the cast and crew in helping bring back hope and light to the city with your donations, using the GoFundMe link above.
