THURSDAY, OCTOBER 19th SqueezIt 1st Ever Can Release @ Corridor Brewery & Provisions, 3446 N Southport Ave., Noon - 11:45PM WHAT: A very special beer release SO WHAT: Corridor Brewery & Provisions  is, for the 1st time ever, doing an official canning of their beer SqueezeIt! SqueezeIt is an original Double Dry Hopped Double IPA with Mosaic and Citra hops. This will be the only place to get these beers! NOW WHAT: They will have 100 of these 4-packs of the sixteen ounce cans, so get there early and join in on the fun! Check out their event page for more info! Chicago for Puerto Rico Benefit feat. Ravyn Lenae/The O'My's/Rich Jones/BoatHouse @ 1st Ward at Chop Shop, 2033 W North Ave., 6:00PM, 18+ WHAT: Fantastic local music for a worthy cause SO WHAT: The lineup for this Puerto Rico benefit is down right insane. You have Ravyn Lenae dishing out R&B excellence with her immaculate voice,  The O'My's mix of soul and rock working together in beautiful harmony, Rich Jones pulling out straight up jams, and BoatHouse keeping the vibes going strong. And Let's not forget it's a very cool venue like 1st Ward at Chop Shop. Basically don't miss this show. NOW WHAT: Tickets are only $20 for this top tier lineup Snoochie Boochies Can Release @ Forbidden Root, 1746 W Chicago Ave., 6:00PM, 21+ WHAT: Beer and a Kevin Smith/Jason Mewes reference? Cool beans! SO WHAT: Your favorite DIPA is back! Snoochie Boochies is an 8% heavy hitter with intense orange aromas that is loaded with Citra and Mosaic hops. Snoochie will be tapped at 6pm when cans go on sale, so you'll be able to try it on draft too! Don't miss this one. NOW WHAT: You'll only be able to purchase one of these delicious brews in order for Forbidden Root to meet demand and be as fair as possible. Dr. Martens Presents: Twin Peaks DJ Set @ Dr. Martens, 1133 N State St., 6:00PM, All ages WHAT: A nice little DJ set by none other than the boys of Twin Peaks SO WHAT: Seriously? It's a free DJ set by Twin Peaks at a Dr. Martens store. Good music, drinks, and did I mention good music. Just go! NOW WHAT: This all ages event is free! You can RSVP here. You can participate in the creative outlet while enjoying your favorite adult beverages, BYOB. No matter what skill level you reside at, all are welcome! FRIDAY, OCTOBER 20th 20x2: How Does It Work? @ The Hideout, 1354 W Wabansia Ave., 6:00PM, 21+ WHAT: 20x2 Chicago is an event where 20 people from all different walks of creative life -- writers, musicians, filmmakers, web geeks and other bon vivants -- are asked the same question and given two minutes each to answer in whichever way they choose. SO WHAT: The results may take any form, from spoken word to music to film, and can be as varied as the emotions and reactions they evoke. This edition's question is "How Does It Work?"  The show is hosted by Andrew Huff, former editor and publisher of Gapers Block, and you can see the impressive list of speakers at the 20x2 website. NOW WHAT: Tickets are $10 in advance online  or at the door, and the show is 21+ Harold Green Presents: The Miseducation of FFTL @ The Promontory, 5311 S Lake Park Ave., 7:00PM, All ages WHAT: An evening of amazing local talent at the Promontory! SO WHAT: Harold Green and his FFTL (Flowers for the Living) Collective are back for another great show. This dynamic will feature the best that Chicago has to offer including Lili K, Prince Jericho, and many more doing something a little special. They will be re-imagining the entire Miseducation of Lauryn Hill album in their inimitable FFTL style! NOW WHAT: Tickets are $20 for GA and $30 for table seats for this interesting and eclectic night. Prices go up $10 at the door. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21st Animaniacs Live @ Arcada Theatre, 105 E Main St, 3:00PM & & 7:30PM WHAT: An afternoon and evening show with the voice behind the Animaniacs! SO WHAT: Re-live the days of sitting down in front of the TV watching your favorite cartoon The Animaniacs as original cast member Rob Paulsen sings live on stage in Animaniacs Live! This musical revue stars Paulson (who voiced Yakko and Pinky from Pinky & the Brain) and Emmy winning composer Randy Rogel, who wrote and created many of those memorable songs you still can’t remove from your brain! NOW WHAT: Tickets start at $25.00 for adults and $20 for kids for this fantastic show! Daymaker / Le Tour / Wavy ID @ Record Breakers, 2935 N Milwaukee Ave., 4:00PM - 6:30PM, All Ages WHAT: Live music in a record store! SO WHAT: Record Breakers, the old school shop that used to sit atop of Reggie's Rock Club, has a new place and will be having their 2nd in-store showcase with a trio of amazing Chicago bands. Take a nice late afternoon trip with Daymaker, Le Tour and Wavy ID will take the stage with a little bit of punk, psych, and R&B for you! NOW WHAT: It's free! just head out there and enjoy the local tunes! Funhouse : Art Oddities @ All Star Press, 2775 N Milwaukee Ave., 6:00PM - 10:00PM, All Ages WHAT: All Star Press partners with El Jimador Tequila for an interactive & visual experience that celebrates the surreal, the creepy, the weird and everything in between in a group exhibition titled Funhouse : Art Oddities SO WHAT: Funhouse:Art Oddities is a mix of an art event and an art performance as the night will showcase limited edition prints, pins, and other merchandise by artists from all over the world. You will have the opportunity to participate with interactive stations during the opening event which will encourage you and fellow guests to contribute to an immersive experience! There will be live painting by Lefty Out There, an interactive Funhouse installation experience by Blake Jones,  puppet performance by Lanky Yankee Puppet Co., custom button station by Busy Beaver Button Co., tunes by Record Breakers., and much more! SATURDAY & SUNDAY, OCTOBER 21st & 22nd MCA Hearts Chicago @ Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, 220 E Chicago Ave., Saturday 10:00AM - 11:00PM & Sunday 10:00AM - 5:00PM, All ages WHAT: A celebration of the 50th anniversary of the MCA’s founding SO WHAT: The MCA will be throwing a big party celebrating our city and the role contemporary museums play in fostering creative connections and communities with a weekend-long event.  Chicago artists from a range of disciplines will pay homage to the past, celebrate the present, and pave the way for the future. The event launches the museum’s new community space, the Commons, and is also marked by a museum-wide landmark exhibition—organized collaboratively by three of the museum’s visual arts curators—that highlights the museum's permanent collection of art from 1945 to today. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 22nd HQ's 5th Anniversary Fall Festival @ Headquarters, 213 W Institute Pl., 2:00PM - 8:00PM, All ages WHAT: 5 years of not falling for the trap of growing up SO WHAT: Headquarter is celebrating their 5th anniversary with an outdoor fall carnival & arcade! They will be teaming up with Goose Island to serve up some of the best and rarest brews including 2016, 2015, and 2014 editions of Bourbon County Stout! There will be tons of events including a Dog Halloween Costume Contest! (2:00-3:15 PM), a pumpkin carving contest (3:30-4:30 PM), outdoor arcade, carnival games, giveaways, Bruges Brothers Food Truck and music from DJ Brock Manke (2:00-5:00 PM) and PHNM (5:00-8:00 PM)! NOW WHAT: This is a free all ages event, so feel free to bring the kids, pups, and any one willing to have a great time! Julien Baker/Half Waif/Petal @ Thalia Hall, 1807 S Allport St, 6:30PM, All ages WHAT: Pristine songwriting at a wonderful venue SO WHAT: Julien Baker's debut album Sprained Ankle was an intimate and utterly majestic piece of music that deserved all the accolades it got. Since that release, Baker has joined Matador Records, who will be releasing her next album Turn Out The Light. Baker is well on the rise and this is the perfect time to see her perform. She will be joined by Half Waif and Petal. NOW WHAT: Tickets are only $20 for this unmissable evening.
