The holiday season is definitely here as it's the first weekend of Lincoln Park Zoo's Holiday Lights (for members and their guests only) andall the decorations begin to fill out stores and event themes all over the city. So why not go out and enjoy the slightly early festivities and check out everything else Chicago has to offer! Let's get your curated weekend started! ALL WEEKEND LONG, NOVEMBER 16th - 19th Chicago Art Book Fair 2017 @ Chicago Athletic Association Hotel, 12 S Michigan Ave., Various Times WHAT: The first Chicago Art Book Fair hosted at Chicago Athletic Association Hotel's Tank and Stagg Court, dedicated to showcasing emerging directions and diverse legacies within small press arts publishing. SO WHAT: CABF is a project of No Coast, a collaborative venture which is equal parts master printer for artists and an affordable, publicly accessible distributor for contemporary art. This fair will feature an international group of over 100 arts publishers, small presses, book artists, comics artists, zinemakers and printmakers. NOW WHAT: CABF is free and open to the public. THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 16th   Vinyl Emergency Podcast Live Taping: Lydia Loveless @ Pinwheel Records, 1722 W 18th St., 4:30PM - 6:00PM, all ages WHAT: The Vinyl Emergency podcast doing a special live taping at Pinwheel Records with Lydia Loveless! SO WHAT: Host of Vinyl Emergency Jim Hanke welcomes Bloodshot Records recording artist Lydia Loveless for an in-depth discussion and acoustic performance amidst her two-night stand at The Hideout. NOW WHAT: Admission is free but due to limited space, this is a first come, first serve! So get there early and enjoy this amazing recording! Drink N' Draw @ ii Designer Toy Store & Gallery, 2780 N Lincoln Ave., 7:00PM - 9:00PM, 21+ WHAT: BYOB drawing in a toy store/gallery SO WHAT: Blake Jones will be hosting a fun evening of drawing, sketching and doodling! You can participate in the creative outlet while enjoying your favorite adult beverages, BYOB. No matter what skill level you reside at, all are welcome! NOW WHAT: Grab your favorite drink of choice and enjoy it responsibly while partaking in some creativity! FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 17th Chicago Food Depository Benefit @ Bric-a-Brac Records, 3156 W Diversey Ave., 5:30PM - 8:30PM, all ages WHAT: A hard rocking benefit for the Greater Chicago Food Depository SO WHAT: Donating food for the holiday is a full-good idea and Bric-a-Brac Records are going to have a big party to try and get them a bunch of it. They'll have two heavy locals, Fatherless and Salvation, playing some music at this Stranger Things themed party! Plus there will be a very special Death by Toys figure to raffle off! NOW WHAT: Head out, donate, and rock out! Body Love Live @ Coalition Impact, 405 W. Superior, 6:00PM - 8:30PM WHAT: Rebellious Magazine for Women presents Katie Morell, who writes Rebellious' Body Love column. She asks: Can each of us love our bodies, as they are right now? SO WHAT: Morell will interview a diverse group of authors and activists on what it means to love your body, and the latest in the body image movement. She'll address how to combat the media's narrow definition of beauty. Also on the agenda: a chat with Northwestern psychology professor Dr. Renee Engeln, author of Beauty Sick: How the Cultural Obsession with Appearance Hurts Girls and Women, plus a panel discussion with local activists and audience Q&A. NOW WHAT: Body Love Live is a +13 event. Tickets are $15-40. The $40 ticket includes a copy of Engeln's book. MSI After Hours: Naughty or Nice @ Museum of Science and Industry, 5700 S Lake Shore Dr., 7:00PM - 10:00PM, 21+ WHAT: Celebrate the most wonderful time of the year at MSI, 21-and-up style. SO WHAT: The Museum of Science and Industry invites you to experience the beautiful museum after it closes to the public. Kick off your holiday season by being among the first to see MSI’s beloved Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light exhibits, listen to live music from famed Chicago DJ Jesse De La Peña and snap naughty—or nice—selfies with Santa Claus and Krampus! SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18th Pool Holograph/mtvghosts/Ex Okays/Gal Gun @ Shuga Records, 1272 N Milwaukee Ave., 4:30PM - 6:00PM, all ages WHAT: One hell of an instore performance SO WHAT: Local experimental psych rockers Pool Holograph will be stopping by Shuga Records to jam out as they perform their recently released record Transparent World! Joining them will be even more local vibes from the art pop of mtvghosts, Ex Okays jangle rock, and the indie treasures of Gal Gun! NOW WHAT: It's a completely free show! Go out and enjoy the local sounds! Hot Chip DJ Set @ Smart Bar, 3730 N Clark St., 8:00PM, 21+ WHAT: HOT CHIP DJ SET! SO WHAT: Felix Martin & Joe Goddard of Hot Chip are some of the funkiest dudes on the planet and they will be stopping by Smart Bar to dish out the jams!  Hot Chip are the indie electronic dance group that will assuredly have some of the best music playing during their long DJ set. NOW WHAT: Tickets are available for $20! An Intimate November Evening @ DZ Records, 8548 S 85th Ct., 8:00PM - 11:59PM WHAT: Another DZ Records style party! SO WHAT: Join DZ Records for a night of great music as they begin their qust to raise funds for next years DZ Fest. There will be a nice lineup of bands rocking out for your aural pleasure including Meristems, Special Death, Single Player and Ratboys! There will be free water and the event is BYOB. NOW WHAT: Admission is $10. All proceeds go towards funding DZ Fest 2018. JC Brooks Band/ DeRobert & The Half-Truths/The Right Now/DJRC @ 1st Ward at Chop Shop, 2033 W North Ave., 8:00PM, 18+ WHAT: The Nashville-to-Chicago Soul Revue 2017! SO WHAT: This is an amazing lineup of fantastic soul singers doing what they do best! Locals JC Brooks Band and The Right Now will be joined by Nashville's DeRobert & The Half Truths for an evening of well-written songs that will make fans out of the uninitiated. Don't miss this epic show! NOW WHAT: Ticket are $17 for this great lineup! SATURDAY & SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 18th & 19th Randolph Street Holiday Market @ Plumber's Hall, 1340 W Washington Blvd., 10:00AM - 5:00PM WHAT: Randolph Street Market Chicago returns SO WHAT: Celebrate the holiday edition of this fun market where you can experience 125 vendors with a wide variety of items perfect for your holiday gifts! Their will also be a market bar stocked with bloody marys, beers, wines, champagnes, and local eateries while browsing vendors on three floors in the Plumbers Hall building You can see their gift guide on their website! NOW WHAT: Tickets for the market are $8 for general admission SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 19th The Funky Brunch @ Headquarters Beercade, 213 W Institute Pl., Noon - 8:00PM, 21+ WHAT: CUT COPY DJ SET! SO WHAT: The Funky Brunch, presented by Paradigm and Headquarters, is on a mission to make America funky again and they have enlisted the help of some of the funkiest dudes on the planet: Dan Whitford and Tim Hoey, the frontman and guitarist of the band Cut Copy! Cut Copy have been making pristine electronic dance music for years and will assuredly have some of the best music playing during their DJ set. NOW WHAT: Tickets are available for $15 -$25!
