It feels so odd to be complaining about the warm weather this late into the year. But after looking at the rest of this week's forecast, it seems those complaints will take a turn and be about how appropriately cold it is! So before the frosty temps scare you inside, let's go out and enjoy all the great events Chicago has to offer. So let's go ahead and give your week a fresh start! MONDAY, DECEMBER 4th The Flat Five Fall Freak Out Residency @ The Hideout, 1354 W Wabansia Ave., 7:00PM - 9:00PM, 21+ WHAT: The place you'll want to be every Monday SO WHAT: The Flat Five are the super group that Chicago needs. Made up of Scott Ligon, Casey McDonough, Kelly Hogan, Nora O'Connor and Alex Hall, the band's debut album It’s a World of Love and Hope is made up entirely of songs by Chicago mainstay Chris Ligon.  Their sound is everything you could want from these music masters: sweet and twisted pop songs that will get stuck in your head. Now you can see them mix things up like the good ole days at this multi-month residency where they will be trying a whole mess of beautiful things every Monday night. This evening will see Nora O'Connor and Kelly Hogan performing the mucic of the Roches! NOW WHAT: There is no better way to spend $15 on a Monday night. Head out and experience this masterful group. Deathscribe X @ Lincoln Hall, 2424 N Lincoln Ave., 8:00PM, 18+ WHAT: Deathscribe X, the Tenth Annual International Festival of Radio Horror Plays SO WHAT: WildClaw Theatre Company is on an ongoing quest to find original, imaginative horror stories. They solicited and received over 100 new works from theatre and horror aficionados around the world, narrowing them down to five bloodstained radio plays. The five finalists will be brought to life by Chicago's finest actors and directors, accompanied by a live band and a team of sound effects artists performing live foley onstage. Join them and Lincoln Hall to see who will be this years victor and winner of the coveted Bloody Axe award, chosen by a panel of horror and theatre experts. NOW WHAT: Tickets for this 16+ event are going quick! They currently have balcony standing room only tickets for $25. TUESDAY, DECEMBER 5th Crampus Holiday Market @ Emporium Arcade Bar Logan Square, 2363 N Milwaukee Ave., 6:00PM -11:00PM 21+ WHAT: A punny twist on the holiday villain Krampus - it's Crampus time! SO WHAT: Get your holiday shopping done at Crampus Holiday Market, where Emporium will be showcasing the work of more than 20 amazing female makers, all in one place for one night only! This event will be benefiting the Chicago Period Project, so bring pads, tampons, and other menstrual supplies to donate for the 29% of women living in Chicago under the poverty line. Donations will be collected at the door! Tuesday Funk #111 @ Hopleaf, 5148 N Clark St., 7:30PM - 10:00PM, 21+ WHAT: An eclectic monthly reading series that celebrates good writing and good beer. SO WHAT: Andrew Huff and Eden Robins co-host Tuesday Funk, an eclectic monthly reading series where a group of writers read their works while the audience takes in a drink or two. Housed in the upstairs bar at Hopleaf, Tuesday Funk constantly delivers wonderful writers sharing their best work. Jasmine Davila, James Gordon, H. Melt, Faisal Mohyuddin and Tom Underberg. NOW WHAT: Doors open at 7:00pm and the show starts at 7:30 sharp. So get there early to grab a seat, but not overly early. Admission is always free and the event is 21 and older. A Babely Bazaar: Holidaze Edition @ Slippery Slope, 2357 N Milwaukee Ave., 8:00PM - 11:00PM WHAT: Slippery Slope is showcasing some very talented local artists! SO WHAT: Very talented local artists will have their fantastic creations on display for you to browse and buy! You can grab a bite to eat, have a drink and purchase yourself a one of a kind gift. WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 6th After Work: MICHA @ The Robey, 2022 W North Ave., 6:00PM - 7:00PM, 21+ WHAT: Music at chill lounge SO WHAT: The Robey has a new series, After Work, where local artists will play intimate, stripped down sets in their second floor lounge. Don't miss out on cocktail, beer and wine specials as you are serenaded by some of the best acts in Chicago. This week the series features a beautiful set from MICHA! NOW WHAT: This series is free and a great way to discover new artists.
