THE WHOLE START OF THE WEEK, DECEMBER 11th - 13th Andrew Bird - Gezelligheid Concert @ Fourth Presbyterian Church, 26 E Chestnut St., 8:00PM, All Ages WHAT: It's Andrew Bird performing his intimate Gezelligheid shows at Fourth Presbyterian Church. SO WHAT: Seriously? It's Andrew Bird, his beautiful violin, and his signature giant Victrola horns filling the air at the gorgeous Fourth Presbyterian Church. MONDAY, DECEMBER 11th The Flat Five Fall Freak Out Residency @ The Hideout, 1354 W Wabansia Ave., 7:00PM - 9:00PM, 21+ WHAT: The place you'll want to be every Monday SO WHAT: The Flat Five are the super group that Chicago needs. Made up of Scott Ligon, Casey McDonough, Kelly Hogan, Nora O'Connor and Alex Hall, the band's debut album It’s a World of Love and Hope is made up entirely of songs by Chicago mainstay Chris Ligon.  Their sound is everything you could want from these music masters: sweet and twisted pop songs that will get stuck in your head. Now you can see them mix things up like the good ole days at this multi-month residency where they will be trying a whole mess of beautiful things every Monday night. TUESDAY, DECEMBER 12th Sauced: The Night Market Before Christmas @ Chicago Athletic Association Hotel, 12 S Michigan Ave., 5:00PM -10:00PM, All Ages WHAT: Merry whatever holiday you celebrate this time of year from Sauced and the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel SO WHAT: It's the Night Market Before Christmas and Sauced knew exactly what to get everyone! A fantastic event with over 50 food, art and retail vendors taking over the Tank and Stagg Court for your shopping enjoyment! The Moth StorySLAM: Dirt @ The Promontory, 5311 S Lake Park Ave., 6:00PM - 11:00PM, 17+ , unless accompanied by an adult WHAT: Captivating storytellers telling stories SO WHAT: The Moth presets an open-mic storytelling competition. It is open to anyone with a five-minute story to share on the night’s theme. Come tell a story, or just enjoy the show! This time performers prepare a five-minute story about dirt in all its forms including the kind we find in our gardens to the gossipy news we here around town. Basically, it's a lot of dirty talk. NOW WHAT: Tickets are $13.63 for this  great evening. WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 13th Jazz Occurrence No. 13 @ Constellation, 3111 N Western Ave., 8:30PM, 18+ WHAT: Now in its fifth year in Chicago, the Jazz Occurrence project is continuing to step toward the lofty goals of Wagner’s Gesamtkunstwerk, an exceptional human experience disguised as a concert with live painting. SO WHAT: Artist Lewis Achenbach has invited a group of great local musicians and experimenters to take a dive headlong into the vastness of improvisation and spontaneous creation. The artists will be exploring the concept of “Sonido Sólido”; imagining the room filling up and then releasing solid sound. NOW WHAT: Tickets are $10 for this unique musical experience! Marvin Tate presents "Kitchen Songs" @ The Hungry Brain, 2319 W Belmont Ave., 9:00PM, 21+ WHAT: An evening full of soul and heart SO WHAT: Poet and vocalist Marvin Tate will be joined by longtime collaborators Matt Lux and Dan Bitney to perform songs written and inspired while Tate was in his kitchen making art, cleaning or cooking. He’ll also be assembling ideas for a future one-man show called, “Kitchen Songs.” He will be joined by the incredibly unique performances of  meditative duo ZoRa Multiverse, the multi-disciplinary work of Liz Gomez, and soul trio Deluge. NOW WHAT: This marvelous evening is free.
