MONDAY & TUESDAY, DECEMBER 18th & 19th
Batman Returns & The Nightmare Before Christmas Double Feature @ Music Box Theatre, 3733 N Southport Ave., 5:00PM / 7:30PM / 9:30PM, All Ages
WHAT: A Tim-Burton-associated holiday double feature!
SO WHAT: For over three decades, the Music Box has celebrated the holidays with Jimmy Stewart and Bing Crosby. However, if your tastes lean to the weirder and the macabre, the Music Box is screening an Alternative Christmas Double Feature! Join the Caped Crusader & Jack Skellington for an snowy evening in Gotham and Halloween Town with screenings of Batman Returns and The Nightmare Before Christmas!
NOW WHAT: Tickets are $11 ($7 for Music Box Members) and grant admission for both films on the selected day. Purchase a ticket to the first show you want to see, then stick around for the second one!
MONDAY, DECEMBER 18th
The Flat Five Fall Freak Out Residency @ The Hideout, 1354 W Wabansia Ave., 7:00PM - 9:00PM, 21+
WHAT: The final night of this Flat Five residency
SO WHAT: The Flat Five are the super group that Chicago needs. Made up of Scott Ligon, Casey McDonough, Kelly Hogan, Nora O'Connor and Alex Hall, the band's debut album It’s a World of Love and Hope is made up entirely of songs by Chicago mainstay Chris Ligon. Their sound is everything you could want from these music masters: sweet and twisted pop songs that will get stuck in your head. Now you can see them mix things up like the good ole days at this multi-month residency where they will be trying a whole mess of beautiful things every Monday night. This is the finale! The final night of this multi month residency and they're are capping it off with some of the greatest hits of their series!

WHAT: A great way to close out Empty Bottle's 2017 Free Mondays!
SO WHAT: Cap off the year of Free Mondays at Empty Bottle with this fun lineup. Bloom returns to the Bottle with their infectious power pop tracks along with the surf rock jams of Beach Bunny, Dogs At Large and their psychedelic Americana, and the rocking tunes of Gal Gun!

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 19th
Take It Outside Release Party @ Schubas, 3159 N Southport Ave., 8:00PM, 21+
WHAT: A book release with a stacked lineup
SO WHAT: Take It Outside is the debut collection of Chicago music scene photographs by Tim Nagle. This release party will feature a bevy of artists the Nagle has photographed including the incredible performers Phoelix and Rookie! There will also be plenty of DJ sets from the likes of Twin Peaks, The Orwells, Post Animal, and Grapetooth. To put it simply, this show is going to be amazing.

WHAT: A holiday miracle!
SO WHAT: It was a sad day when Jimmy Whispers left our Windy City for the City of Angels, but he's back for one hell of a show. Jimmy Whispers will be crooning his way to your heart along with Sports Boyfriend and her smooth indie pop and the groovy sonic ecstasy of Grapetooth.

They are each purveyors of distinctly different genre, offering up some of the best music in ton. Ovef Ow is a 4-piece rock band that exudes surf and garage/punk-inspired sounds that don't hold back, Belmont & Clark are an electronic duo focusing on minimal electronic vibes, Tomorrow The Moon trips out on euphoric brit-pop excellence, and Aphorism is the hybrid of analog and digital soundscapes created by artist Josh Pyle
