Community Activists Confront Ben Carson on Fair Housing
Community activists protested an appearance by HUD Secretary Ben Carson on Monday where he was hosting a policy roundtable discussion. Last week the Trump administration announced it would halt an Obama-era initiative that requires communities to address racial segregation in housing. “People are running out of places to live,” said Honni Harris, with the community group One Northside in a press release. “Instead of helping the people who need it most during this housing crisis, Secretary Carson is undermining the civil rights protections of housing policy.” Video posted on Twitter shows one woman from the Jane Addams Senior Caucus being escorted out saying "I'm leaving on my own because you're taking homes from me and friends like me."
