Homeless Couple Sues City for Destroyed Tents and Family Photos

A homeless Chicago couple, Amie Smith and Shawn Moore, are suing the city of Chicago after eight of their tents were removed and thrown away in the last year. Destroyed along with the tents are personal items, like photos of late loved ones. Their lawyer argues that such destruction is a violation of 2013 Illinois bill of homeless rights law. This isn't the first time a lawsuit involving lost personal items by the city has been filed; the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless has filed three such lawsuits (Chicago Tribune).
