Metra Trains Halted After Engine Derailment

Trains on several Metra lines were halted after a Union Pacific engine derailed early Tuesday afternoon. The engine was transporting cars from Ogilvie Transportation Center to a yard near Western Avenue. There were no reports of injuries and the engine was undamaged. A spokesperson for Metra said the derailment shouldn’t impact the evening commute. At 2:45 PM, Metra’s downtown Twitter account stated that northbound and outbound trains were “on the move with extensive delays” due to the derailment. (Sun-Times)
