Thousands March Through Loop to Call for ‘Sensible’ Gun Laws
Thousands marched in the Loop on Sunday to call for what they say are sensible gun laws in the wake of yet another tragic school shooting, which took place in Broward County, Florida last week. The groups Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, Women’s March Chicago, and Indivisible Illinois, who organized the march, say “the time for ‘thoughts and prayers’ is long past and the time for action is now” after a 19 year-old man indiscriminately slaughtered 17 people at a high school, and wounded an additional 15. “We demand our lawmakers do more to end this gun violence crisis in our city and our country,” the groups wrote in a press release. “We deserve to live in a country where children live free from gun violence, in their schools, in their homes, and in their communities.” (CBS)
