Food Truck Owner Will Appeal City Ordinance to Supreme Court

Chicago regulations require that food trucks stay at least 200 feet away from restaurants, and Laura Pekarik, owner of Cupcakes for Courage, a mobile vendor, is appealing her case to the Illinois Supreme Court, arguing the rule is unconstitutional. This trial would add to the ongoing legal fight against Chicago's  2012 food truck regulations. The appellate court upheld the city's case in December. Chicago is one of 10 major cities to have food truck regulations this specific. Pekarik hopes to grow her business and utilize the lunch hour in the city if she wins her case, as she claims the Chicago law has restricted most of her business to the suburbs (Chicago Tribune).
