Sinclair Divests Television Stations in Chicago, New York to Comply with FCC Ownership Limits

Sinclair Broadcast Group announced Wednesday that it would sell Tribune's WPIX-TV in New York, WGN-TV in Chicago and KSWB-TV in San Diego to meet the Federal Communications Commission ownership limit of $3.9 billion. The Justice Department and the FCC have yet to make a decision on the proposed Sinclair-Tribune merger, which was announced in May. Sinclair's plan to reach the FCC limit includes the sales of stations in eight other markets (Variety).
