Macy’s to Sell Top Floors of State Street Building

Macy’s plans to sell off part of its building on State Street in a deal that would net the retail giant $30 million. The company will sell floors 8 through 14 of its flagship store to Brookfield Asset Management, a Canadian investment firm. After questions arose about the stability of the Walnut Room, which was the first restaurant opened in a department store in 1907 when the location was owned by Marshall Field’s, a spokesperson said the restaurant would remain.
