Madigan Releases List of Nine Harassment Cases as Investigation Begins

House Speaker Michael Madigan released a list of nine harassment cases on the day of a closed-door meeting of a Democratic panel investigating harassment on his watch (Chicago Tribune). State Comptroller Susanna Mendoza, Rep. Cheri Bustos and Rep. Carol Ammons are equal co-chairs and the sole panelists in the investigation; they were appointed by Madigan. They say they will be independent of the state party organization, which he chairs (Chicago Tribune). That's after state Democrats as a whole decided that an external panel would best fit the case, excluding both Madigan and daughter Attorney General Lisa Madigan (Chicago Tribune).
