THURSDAY, JULY 5th Argyle Night Market @ Sheridan & Argyle, W Argyle St & N Sheridan Rd, , 5:00pm - 9:00pm, All Ages WHAT: The first Argyle Night Market of the 2018 season! SO WHAT: It’s the 6th annual Argyle Night Market this summer. Delicious food, live music, cultural performances, family fun and so much more are waiting for you! The evening will be filled with the sounds and movements of two duos: Macie Stewart (violin/voice) & Jamine Mendoza (movement) and Katie Ernst (bass) & Mai Sugimoto (Saxaphone) NOW WHAT: This event is free and donations will be accepted. FRIDAY & SATURDAY, JULY 6th & 7th DMC Block Party @ Dark Matter Coffee, 738 N Western Ave, Friday 4:00pm - 10:00pm & Saturday Noon - 10:00pm, All ages WHAT: The annual DMC Block Party expands to two days! SO WHAT: Stop by Dark Matter Coffee for a family friendly affair with small bites, water, and libations provided.  There will also be a huge lineup of DJs and live band performing including Dos Santos Ovef ow, Hood Internet, Strange Foliage, and many more! Suggested donations will be donated to Hope For The Day FRIDAY - SUNDAY, JULY 6th - 8th West Fest @ Chicago Ave. between Damen Avenue and Wood Street, Firday 5:00pm - 10:00pm, Saturday & Sunday Noon - 10:00pm WHAT: A worthwhile music fest! SO WHAT: Celebrate all of the best of West Town Chicago with a three day fest filled with plenty of food, vendors and some of the best local and world renowned music. West Fest will feature a DJ stage  and an Empty Bottle curated stage. The lineup includes Kevin Morby, Joey Purp, Ohmme, Anna Burch, and so many more. Check out the full lineup on their website. NOW WHAT: A $5 donation gets you entry to this family (and pet) friendly fest! Proceeds benefit local non-profits the West Town Chamber of Commerce, Talcott Fine Arts and Museum Academy, and local schools. FRIDAY, JULY 6th Picnics on the Porch: Jake Xerxes Fussell & James Elkington @ The Hideout, 1354 W Wabansia Ave, 6:00pm, 21+ WHAT: Summer evenings on the Hideout porch SO WHAT: This summer grab a blanket, and head down to The Hideout to enjoy intimate performances right on their front porch. Their neighbors, the midwestern-focused Local Foods, will be on site selling picnic boxes with their fresh-from-the-farm ingredients. This evening will include the wonderful folk/blues tinge music of Jake Xerxes Fussell & James Elkington. NOW WHAT: Tickets are $10 Humboldt Pie @ Slate Arts, 3203 W North Ave, 8:00pm - 10:00pm WHAT: Contemporary meets classic with Slate’s newest residency - a monthly stand up comedy showcase! SO WHAT:  Keeping with Slate’s mission, Humboldt Pie (hosted by Madeleine Russell) will bring diverse, fresh, contemporary, not to mention gut busting comedic voices to Kedzie and North Ave the first Friday of every month! NOW WHAT: There is a $5 suggested donation fro this great BYOB comedy show! Advance Base w/ Paul Gonzenbach & masc acting @ Hungry Brain, 2319 W Belmont Ave, 9:00pm, 21+ WHAT: Beautiful sounds for your Friday! SO WHAT: Advance Base is the electronic solo project of Chicago singer/songwriter Owen Ashworth (formerly of Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, still one of my favorite bad names).  Ashworth builds minimalist heartbreaking tunes that orbit around his conversational, baritone vocals. It's lo-fi goodness that will sure impress! Joining him will be two Seattle, WA acts: melancholic post-rock singer/guitarist Paul Gonzenbach  and the ambient electronic artist masc acting. NOW WHAT: It's free! SATURDAY & SUNDAY, JULY 7th & 8th Chicago Michelada Fest 2018 @ 1000 West Cermak Road, Noon - 10:00pm, All Ages WHAT: The first annual Chicago Michelada Festival. SO WHAT: The Chicago Michelada Festival is a beer, food, music, and cultural celebration of all that makes Pilsen great. There will be seven different styles of the iconic mixed drink with every flavor from Pepino and Tamarindo to Mango Habanero and even a vegan option all brought to you by michelada maker Big Mich. Not a big drinker?  Big Mich has created a custom non-alcoholic version called The Miche-Nada that will give you all the flavor without the alcohol. There will also be tons of music throughout the weekend including our favorites Esso Afrojam Funkbeat closing out the Tecate Main stage on Sunday! NOW WHAT: Check out all the details at their website!General admission is free! DZ Fest 2018 @ DZ Records, 8548 S 85th Ct, Hickory Hills, IL, Noon - 11:00pm, All ages WHAT: The 6th annual DZ Fest! SO WHAT: DZ Fest is a gathering of 40 bands ripping into their instruments on two stages for two days of excellent music. The lineup is wonderfully insane as usual including the likes of Pixel Grip, Our Fathers, Bad Bad Meow, Namorado, Beach Bunny, Harvey Fox, and so many more! SATURDAY, JULY 7th C.R.A.T.E.S (Chicago Record And Turntable Enthusiast Swap) @ Temperance Beer Co., 2000 Dempster Street, 11:00am - 6:00pm, All Ages WHAT: After successful R.P.M.S. over the past two years, Funk Trunk Records is trying to recreate the same vibe and bring together more record collectors and lovers in a larger environment for a one off event called C.R.A.T.E.S with the hopes of making it an annual summer party for the Chicago record community SO WHAT: Join Funk Trunk Records and friends at Temperance Beer Company for a day of crate diggin' and alcohol sippin'. They  will have a hand selected lineup of DJs to provide the perferct soundtrack for diggin and more hand picked vendors with choice crates for collectors of all kinds. SUNDAY, JULY 8th Glassjaw & Quicksand @ Concord Music Hall, 2047 N Milwaukee Ave., 6:30pm, 17+ WHAT: The long awaited return of two amazing bands SO WHAT: Seriously this lineup is nuts. You have Quicksand, who just recently released their first album in 22 years, and Glassjaw, whose myriad of lineup changes finally resulted in a new album also last year, coming together to share their respective post-rock sounds. This is both bands' first proper tour in support of a new LP in decades, so you know it’s not one to be missed! NOW WHAT: Tickets are $27.50 for this excellent show!
