While some are counting down the summer days as Labor Day weekend approaches, we're trying to make the best of the last days of summer. You still have more than a week to enjoy the summer! Why not make the best of it by going out into the city and discovering some fantastic shows, conventions, comedy, and more! So let's get on with your curated weekend! ALL WEEKEND LONG, AUGUST 23rd - 26th Wizard World Chicago @ Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N River Rd, Rosemont, IL, All Ages WHAT: Wizard World Chicago is a long-running comic book and pop culture convention spanning the latest and greatest from the world of comics, movies, television, toys, anime, manga and video games. SO WHAT: It’s three days and one preview night of everything you ever wanted to know about nerd culture and geek stuff. There will be plenty of guests signing autographs, panels featuring interesting talks, workshops on the ins and outs of every creative process, and a constant parade of cosplayers walking the convention floor. Take a look at our full preview here! NOW WHAT: Tickets are available for $95 for all four days of the convention! Single day tickets are also available and you can also get tickets at the door. THURSDAY, AUGUST 23rd Seu Jorge @ Thalia Hall, 1807 S Allport St, 7:00pm,17+ WHAT: Seu Jorge playing his myriad of beautiful music SO WHAT:  Seu Jorge is a wonderful Brazilian musician who reinvigorated pop samba. His tender acoustic renditions of David Bowie songs in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou caught the attention of the world. Since then Seu Jorge has expanded his sound and crafted some incredible music that needs to be experienced live! NOW WHAT: Tickets are $36 for this incredible night! FRIDAY - SUNDAY, AUGUST 24th - 26th Logan Square Food Truck Social @ Logan Square, W Armitage Ave & N Humboldt Blvd, All Ages WHAT: Some amazing food from some local food trucks. SO WHAT: Producers Optimum Events and Empty Bottle Presents will be uniting for the 2nd consecutive Logan Square Food Truck Social on Humboldt Boulevard between Armitage and Bloomingdale in Logan Square. The event will feature 20+ food trucks with additional local vendors! There will be live music curated by the Empty Bottle on two stages including Quarter Mile Thunder, Pool Holograph, Glyders, and many more! NOW WHAT: There is a $5 suggested donation which will benefit La Casa Norte, Northwest Food Partners Network, and Friends of Brentano Elementary School. There is also a sampler ticket available for $20! FRIDAY, AUGUST 24th It’s A ClickHole Show @ Cards Against Humanity Theater, 1551 W Homer St, 8:00pm - 10:30pm, 21+ WHAT: ClickHole doing their thing at the Cards Against Humanity Theater SO WHAT:  The Onion's publication Clickhole, which satirizes sites like Buzzfeed and the culture surrounding "clickbait," will be featuring its writers at the CAH Theatre for a night of comedy that will include stories, tales, songs, screaming into the empty void of life and maybe even PowerPoint presentations. NOW WHAT: Tickets are $10 for this comedy show. All proceeds from this show will benefit Designs for Dignity. SATURDAY & SUNDAY, AUGUST 25th & 26 Big Evanston Block Party @ Chicago and Dempster, Evanston, 6:00pm - 10:00pm, All Ages WHAT: In honor of their 10th year providing the north Chicago suburb a place to see spectacular shows, SPACE has been presenting Out of Space, a series of outdoor concerts all summer long throughout Evanston culminating in this big block party! SO WHAT:  The multiple meaning, pun-titled Out of Space will be welcoming an impressive lineup of musicians for SPACE’s inaugural Big Evanston Block Party at the intersection of Chicago and Dempster. Day one of the block party will feature TWEN, Dos Santos, Waco Brothers, Split Single and Guided By Voices! Day two will include Liz Cooper & The Stampede, Arlie, The Flat Five, Banditos, Old 97’s! NOW WHAT: This finale to the great Out of Space Series is free (there is a $5 suggested donation in case you’re feeling charitable)! SATURDAY, AUGUST 25th Ohmme (Sima Cunningham & Macie Stewart) - Photo by Julian Ramirez Ohmme / V.V. Lightbody / The Hecks @ Thalia Hall, 1807 S Allport St, 7:00pm, All Ages WHAT: An album release show you shouldn’t miss! SO WHAT: The wonderful Ohmme, made up of duo Sima Cunningham and Macie Stewart (and often a trio with Matt Carroll), will bring their avant garde rock chaos to Thalia Hall in celebration of their album Parts! The duo blends ethereal vocals with ecstatic guitar playing for one hell of a  live performance. Joining them will be the beautiful voice of VV Lightbody and the noisy ambiance of The Hecks. SUNDAY, AUGUST 26th Don’t Even Trip Road Trip @ Graham Crackers Comics of Naperville, 1271 Rickert Dr #135, Naperville, 2:00pm - 5:00pm, All Ages WHAT: Morty! We’re uh, back in *burp* the Chicagoland area, Morty! *hic* You gotta go Morty! Uh, it’s crucial, Morty! *burp* SO WHAT: The Don’t Even Trip Road Trip is your one-stop shop for all things Rick and Morty!  The Rickmobile is an enormous Rick Sanchez sat upon a roving vehicle that will be rolling around the United States selling exclusive Rick and Morty merchandise. Stop by and witness the overwhelming fandom of the amazing TV show in person. NOW WHAT: Go and see this wonderful monstrosity for free!
