ALL WEEKEND LONG, SEPTEMBER 20th - 23rd
70mm Film Festival @ The Music Box Theatre, 3733 N Southport Ave, Varius Times, All Ages
WHAT: Amazing movies shown in an equally amazing format!
SO WHAT: The Music Box Theatre loves to find reasons to play films in 70mm, which offers much-improved sharpness and clarity—as much as four times the resolution of 35mm and digital projection. This year Chicao's Music Box will once again be showing some beautiful films in 70mm, 12 in total, including eight that have never before screened at the Music Box, all projected onto a massive 16×36 foot screen. NOW WHAT: Festival passes are available for $70 for general audiences and $60 for Music Box members; individual tickets are $14 GA, $12 for students and seniors, and $10 for members and kids. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20th
Shedd After Hours: House Party @ Shedd Aquarium, 1200 S Lake Shore Dr, 5:00pm - 9:00pm, 21+
WHAT: Shedd After Hours is a time for adults to relax, socialize, enjoy music, dance and take in spectacular skyline views on the lakeside terraces.
SO WHAT: This fall, Shedd expands its evening offerings to three themed nights a week. If you love Jazzin’ at the Shedd, you’ll love these additional after-hours opportunities! This evening's House Party features Grammy-Nominated Chosen Few DJ Terry Hunter!
NO WHAT: Tickets are $25, but Shedd After Hours are FREE to Illinois residents and include all exhibits.
Book Launch Party: Night Moves by Jessica Hopper with special guest Megan Stielstra @ Women & Children First Bookstore, 5233 N Clark St, 7:00pm - 8:30pm, All Ages
WHAT: An insightful interview with one of the coolest music journalists out there.
SO WHAT: Help celebrate the release of Night Moves by Jessica Hopper. The memoir is a love letter to Chicago and its music scene, detailing Hopper’s experiences in this great city. Hopper will be interviewed by Megan Stielstra for this great event! Check out Sarah Brooks' interview with Jessica Hopper as a good primer for the evening!

SO WHAT: Blake Jones will be hosting a fun evening of drawing, sketching and doodling! You can participate in the creative outlet while enjoying your favorite adult beverages, BYOB. No matter what skill level you reside at, all are welcome!

WHAT: The annual block party of Goose Island beer, food, and music
SO WHAT: With every passing year, the Goose Island Block party gets bigger and better then ever. They will be pouring fresh beer both days and will have plenty of food to satisfy your palate. The band lineup will feature some amazing acts including TV On The Radio, Sunflower Bean, Mick Jenkins, Ric Wilson, Deeper, Glitter Moneyyy, Drive-By Truckers, The Hold Steady, Lillie Mae, Daddy Issues, Joan of Arc, and Fran! WHAT: Another installment of this literary humor reading series
SO WHAT: This edition of Funny Ha Ha, hosted by Claire Zulkey, will feature a bevy of local writers including New York Times contributor Brittany Julious, Chicago's Biggest Liar Archy Arch J, Rumpus editor Lyz Lenz, Miss Spoken co-founder Carly Oishi, host of "Steve Gadlin's Star Makers" Steve Gadlin, "80 Minutes Around the World" immigration series producer Nestor Gomez, and filmmaker Steve Delahoyde!
NOW WHAT: There is a $10 donation requested and proceeds will benefit Sit Stay Read
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 22nd
Tuesday Funk at Lit Crawl Chicago @ Hopleaf, 5148 N Clark St, 3:00pm - 3:45pm, 21+
WHAT: A special Lit Crawl Chicago edition of the reading series that celebrates good writing and good beer.
SO WHAT: It's a Saturday edition of Tuesday Funk! This eclectic monthly reading series has a group of writers read their works while the audience takes in a drink or two. Housed in the upstairs bar at Hopleaf, Tuesday Funk constantly delivers wonderful writers sharing their best work. Readers will include Kimberly Dixon-Mays, Annabel Lang, Jan English Leary, and Gina DeLuca!
NOW WHAT: Doors open at 2:00pm and the show starts at 3:00 sharp. So get there early to grab a seat, but not overly early. Admission is always free and the event is 21 and older.
WHAT: A live art event in Logan Square
SO WHAT: Galerie F, your place for posters, prints and street art in Chicago, will be hosting a panel of pre-selected artists who will be creating beautiful and affordable works in the gallery that you can take home with you. This edition will feature Mosher a one of the panel of artistsi! For those of you who may want to create some artwork to sell, there will be a handful of first come first serve “drop-in” seats for artists who were not previously selected for the show. Artists keep 100% of their proceeds from this event and get to share their craft with the amazing patrons of Galerie F. It’s set to be a great night of live at creation where you can socialize with like minded art enthusiasts.
