Halloween has come and gone and November is here! The beginning of the eleventh month brings along plenty of fun events including Dia del los Muertos celebrations, concerts, art shows, markets, and more. So enjoy everything Chicago has to offer this weekend and get out there! Let's get on with your curated weekend! ALL WEEKEND LONG, NOVEMBER 1st - 4th SOFA Expo @ Navy Pier, 600 E Grand Ave,, Various times, All Ages WHAT: Sculptures, objects and functional art (that kind of SOFA) at Navy Pier SO WHAT: SOFA is one of Chicago's longest continually running art fairs and it will be returning to Navy Pier. More than 80 galleries and dealers will be on hand to take you through their amazing collections of art which will dazzle and delight. Most of the items are available for purchase, but plenty of people just come to appreciate the beautiful functional art and meet with artists. NOW WHAT: Tickets start at $25 a day (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) and $35 for all three days.  Passes for the preview night on Thursday are also available starting at $55 for general admission, $80 for general admission+entry for the rest of the weekend, $70 for VIP, and $155 VIP entry giving you two extra hours to explore the floor early on Thursday and one hour earlier on Friday and Saturday. THURSDAY - SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1st - 3rd The Void @ Emporium Pop Ups, 2367 N Milwaukee Ave, 5:00pm, 21+ WHAT: The final weekend of Emporium Popups and Solemn Oath Brewery's The Void SO WHAT: The Void is a twenty-four day spectacle of beer, collaboration, friends, music, and good vibes born from the SOB family.The event will host a rotating lineup of Solemn Oath beers, including the debut of dual collaboration beers between Emporium and SOB in Afterlife Kids and Shake Senora. Solemn Oath’s Goldmund, a Mexican Chocolate Stout, and wood-aged version will be released at the close of the pop-up on Saturday, November 3. THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1st Dia de los Muertos Pop-Up Gallery @ The Robey, 2022 W North Ave, 6:00pm - 10:00pm, 21+ WHAT: A Day of the Dead art pop up! SO WHAT: This pop up will be supporting deceased loved ones’ spiritual journeys with original pieces of art by some of your favorite local Chicago street artists including  Elloo Elloo, Czr Prz, Rampy Vivian, Afrokilla, Suburban Warrior, and Shawnimals. There will be food, beer-cocktails and beer compliments of Modelo. DJ Boi Jeanius will ensure the vibes are properly set for the evening. NOW WHAT: Entry is free! Just bring some cash to take some wonderful art home with you FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd Loneliest Stranger: A Solo Show by Baldur Helgason @ Galerie F, 2415 N Milwaukee Ave, 6:00pm - 10:00pm, All Ages WHAT: A new exhibition of art at the fantastic Galerie F SO WHAT: Galerie F Underground, the art gallery's additional space. will be hosting new works from Icelandic/Chicago-based artist, Baldur Helgason. Stop by and explore Helgason's wonderful art world! NOW WHAT: This event is free, open to the public and kid friendly.The exhibition runs thru November 25.
Calaveras y Palmeras: A Dia de Muertos Party @ Co-Prosperity Sphere, 3219 S Morgan St, 7:00pm, 21+ WHAT: A Dia de Muertos Party like no other! SO WHAT: Celebrate the memories of loved ones who have passed with this beautiful Day of the Dead Celebration! This event will have a dance floor with only the best vintage Latin sounds hand-picked, by some of the finest record collectors and selectors from Mexico, Cuba, Brazil and the U.S. Food, a small market, face painting and more will be waiting for you to enjoy as well as Marz Community Brewing pouring a special selection of fresh brews on tap. NOW WHAT: Tickets start at $10, $15 tickets include a Sonoroma Pin, and $20 include a limited edition poster! Arc Iris / MICHA / Yadda Yadda @ The Hideout, 1354 W Wabansia Ave., 9:00pm ,21+ WHAT: Awesome music at an equally awesome venue SO WHAT: Arc Iris are a phenomenal band. Their first album was a eclectic menagerie of sounds ranging from cabaret, 70s singer songwriter, and much more. Their second album, Moon Saloon ,saw there sound mature with intensity and boldness that has made for an excellent listen. Now touring in support of their third album Icon of Ego, Arc Iris have honed their sound with heavier synths and more streamlined pop sounds while maintaining their penchant for theatrical shows! Joining them on their Chicago stop will be the local soulful voices of MICHA & Yadda Yadda! NOW WHAT: I can’t recommend this show enough. Go see these amazing bands for only $10! SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 3rd Embrujadas @ Empty Bottle, 1035 N Western Ave.,Noon - 4:00pm, 21+ WHAT: A womxn fronted event featuring  healing practices in a myriad of forms SO WHAT: Embrujadas will have women share stories meant to empower, encourage and support one another while enjoying musical performances, networking, learning about the work of others as well as featuring local artisans and vendors. They'll have a special gratitude altar (feel free to bring your own small memento for display), discuss the ancestral roots of some of the healing rituals they continue to practice today and feature talks related to self-care. NOW WHAT: Entry is a suggested $5 donation which will be used in support o a local women's non-profit. The first 20 attendees will receive a complimentary flower for use in the rose cleansing in Olin's Healing Collective's "Healing Room" Return to the Peppermint Forest Opening @ Rotofugi Designer Toy Store & Gallery, 2780 N Lincoln Ave,7:00pm - 10:00pm, All Ages WHAT: An amazing artist exhibition at the coolest toy store/art gallery SO WHAT: Return to the Peppermint Forest is the return of Kelly Vivanco to the Rotofugi walls for a brand new solo exhibit. Vivanco's magical paintings are sure to mesmerize you! The artist will be in attendance so stop by and say hi! NOW WHAT: Entry is free. Exhibit continues through December 2, 2018. Red Bull Music Festival Chicago Opening Night @ Wintrust Arena, 200 E Cermak Rd., 7:00pm, 21+ WHAT: Red Bull returns to Chicago with another month long celebration of music. SO WHAT: Red Bull Music Festival Chicago is the latest installment of Red Bull’s critically acclaimed international music series. This month-long lineup of expertly curated original programming spanning the city’s diverse music genres, exploring and celebrating Chicago’s rich cultural heritage while spotlighting its modern music landscape. Red Bull Music Festival Chicago will be kicking off the whole thing with legends, luminaries, and rising stars for one incredible star-studded night at Wintrust Arena. SO WHAT: WHY? is the musical project of Yoni Wolf that transcends genres and styles to create something new and exhilarating. Alopecia is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary so Wolf and his band will be playing it in full throughout this great tour! Joining WHY? will be The Ophelias and Lala Lala!
