Chicago hip-hop scene has been on fire recently. Noname's Room 25, Saba's Care for Me, Ric Wilson's BANBA, Rich Jones' The Shoulder You Lean On barely scratch the surface on this year's amazing release. Next year is already looking like it's going to be just as good as the always interesting and inventive poet/rapper Mykele Deville has just announced a new album, Maintain! To get you warmed up for it's release, Deville has released a video for the first single, "Type Love."

The song features Daryn Alexus and production work from Montana Macks as Deville tackles the importance of love in the world. "Type Love" explores and emphasizes that loving and accepting one's self should come before letting ourselves all in love with others. It's a smooth and tender ode to self-love and the power it can bring to not only yourself, but those around you.
Maintain is scheduled to be released on February 22nd via No Trend Records, a local DIY label with an impeccable catalog. You can pre-order the album now! In the meantime, you can listen to the rest of the Mykele Deville's impressive musical output over on Bandcamp and Soundcloud.
