Playtime Radio: Talk About Queer Art, Blues, Comedy, Museums and More

Third Coast Review is collaborating with Playtime with Bill Turck and Kerri Kendall. We appear on their Sunday afternoon arts radio show once or twice a month. They’re on WCGO, 1590AM, each Sunday from 1 to 3pm and streaming on Facebook. From now on, you’ll be able to listen to each week’s Playtime right here on our site.

Here’s host Bill Turck’s description of what you’ll hear on Playtime’s August 4 edition.

In the first hour, some of the stories at your online resource for theater, music, visual arts, videogames, festivals, museums and more from our friends at Amy Amdur from calls in with the details on upcoming art festivals. We have a fabulous conversation with Jonathan David Katz, curator of the groundbreaking exhibit, About Face: Stonewall, Revolt and New Queer Art at Wrightwood 659. Bluesman Chip Ratliff introduces us to his talented artistic family in an all new “Practice Your Purpose.” Plus new music from the Marias, Aweful and more on your radio home for the arts!

In the second hour, we start off with Lainie Peterson’s Theater Report. Jason Geis, artistic director for Comedy Sportz in the Belmont Theater District, joins Kerri and Bill. Arica Hilton, owner of the Hilton-Asmus Gallery, 716 N. Wells, stops in. And we talk to Leslie Mueller from PBS’ Museum Access, now in its 2nd season, who calls in.
