Playtime Radio: Venice Floods, Year of ChicagoTheater Plus Movies, Music and More

Playtime with Bill Turck and Kerri Kendall is our radio arts partner. Third Coast Review news and reviews are highlighted and staff members appear on the Sunday afternoon arts radio show occasionally. Playtime broadcasts on WCGO, 1590AM and 95.9FM, each Sunday from 1 to 3pm and streams on Facebook. You can listen to each week’s Playtime here on our site. Here’s host Bill Turck’s description of what you’ll hear on Playtime’s latest edition.

Hour One

In the first glorious first hour. Bill’s thoughts on the Venice floods, and why Venice matters, plus, as always, what’s trending at Third Coast Review: Art, videogames, films, music, theater. Then Mark Kelly, commissioner of the city of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), with a wrapup on the Year of Chicago Theater and  look ahead to 2020 and the Year of Chicago Music. Then we talk with writer and producer Jay Paul Deretany about a provocative new film, Foster Boy, starring Louis Gossett Jr.  and Matthew Modine.

Hour Two

First, Blame Bill calls. Lainie Petersen with the theater report, and Kerri’s new segment called “You GOT to Hear This,” a look at some of her favorite and not so favorite podcasts and ebooks. Then for the hour, Ken Korber with a new rock and roll story in his music series for kids, “The Musical Adventures of Grace.” And more of what’s trending at Third Coast Review on your home for the arts!
