SO WHAT: The Chris Greene Quartet, which features Steve Corley on drums, Damian Espinosa on piano and keyboards, Marc Piane on acoustic and electric basses, and of course the magnificent Chris Greene on saxophone, have been highlights of Chicago's jazz scene for quite some time! The CGQ lineup has mostly been consistent throughout the years, allowing them to nurture a connectivity among the players that results in an incredible and cohesive jazz band. While honoring a traditional jazz sound, the CGQ also blends elements of funk, hip-hop, rock, pop, the blues, and reggae, into their diverse sets! THURSDAY, JANUARY 16th Juliana Hatfield / The Sunshine Boys @ SPACE, 1245 Chicago Ave, Evanston, IL, 8:00pm, WHAT: An excellent show at a wonderful venue SO WHAT: Juliana Hatfield and her band will be stopping by Evanston SPACE to perform some fan favorites from her solo catalog and most recent album Weird, along with select covers from the recent Juliana Hatfield Sings Olivia Newton-John and Juliana Hatfield Sings The Police. Opening the night will be The Sunshine Boys featuring the talents of Freda Love Smith of Blake Babies, Dag Juhlin of Poi Dog Pondering and Jacqueline Schimmel of Big Hello! SO WHAT: From Harley Quinn and Catwoman to Poison Ivy and a number of other femme fatales of the nerd-world, this show offers an opportunity to see them like never before. FRIDAY & SATURDAY, JANUARY 17th & 18th Mandy Metal Movie Night @ The Music Box Theatre, 3733 N Southport Ave, 10:00pm WHAT: Movie madness, pure and simple SO WHAT: The Music Box Theatre and Metal Movie Nights presents two nights of the audacious and insane Mandy! The film starring Nicolas Cage is such a strange experience that only a metal midnight screening could satisfy fans. The party will kick off both nights at 10pm with music in the Music Box Lounge. On Friday the 17th the music for the party will be a curated playlist while on Saturday the 18th Metal Vinyl Weekend will be supplying the jams as usual. There will also be a block of music videos prior to the screenings both nights to set the mood, including one from the gracious Oozing Wound! NOW WHAT: Movie starts at midnight! Tickets are $9! SUNDAY, JANUARY 19th Sawyer Fredericks @ City Winery, 1200 W Randolph St,, 5:00pm WHAT: A winner of The Voice stopping by City Winery! SO WHAT: Four years ago, Sawyer Fredericks was the winner of The Voice and he has been rolling along quite well thanks to that initial success. The now 20 year-old Fredericks (that's right, he was 16 when he won) has been crafting songs that blend country, rock, folk, and heavy doses of the blues. Fredericks’ 2018 album Hide Your Ghost shows off his sound the best, letting his true voice shine through.  With a new album on the way, this is the perfect time to catch him performing live!
