There are few better ways to end your weekend than with a concert and even fewer as exhilarating as Sunday night's show at Avondale Music Hall. Presented by Last Rites & Live Wire Lounge, Guitar Wolf will be bring their legendary sound to Chicago for a night of loud, riotous, and endlessly cool music.
Led by Seiji since it's inception, Guitar Wolf has spent their entire career adhering to the Jet Rock 'n' Roll genre they coined for themselves. It an undoubtedly apt descriptor for their brand of music as every song fell like an unrelenting explosion.. A mixture of rapid fire rock, punk ethos that refuses to quit, and the most stylish leather jackets in the world, the band has achieved a legendary cult status that many will only dream of. Guitar Wolf's sixteen albums of pure adrenaline filled songs, with the latest record Love & Jett on Third Man Records (getting that Jack White stamp of approval) are unbridled fun.
While Love & Jett may be their most mainstream release here in the States, it doesn't lose a step in it's dedicating to the gruff garage rock sound they have cultivated. The songs are as powerful and raw as they were when Guitar Wolf released their first album Wolf Rock a little over 30 years ago, just with a little bit of clarity and shine. It's a noisy and energizing release that will only be elevated in a live setting.
Guitar Wolf will be playing Avondale Music Hall with Hans Condor / The Kozmic Kicks. Tickets for are $33.99 for this fantastic show! This year also marks the 40th anniversary of Last Rites putting on some killer heavy shows in Chicago.
