Evanston Folk Festival Is Ready to Impress at Dawes Park

When Evanston's Space Presents is putting on a show, you need to listen. Whether it's the amazing ambiance of Space, or their diverse offerings at Out of Space and Winnetka Music Festival, you know you're going to be having a good time. On September 7 & 8 you can add another event to the list of amazing offerings in the form of the Evanston Folk Festival. Taking over Dawes Park for two full days, Evanston Folk Festival is primed to impress with a truly great lineup of conversations and performances both in and out of the festival grounds.

The festival lineup feature a wide range of folk acts from the legendary like Patty Griffin and Robbie Fulks to newer acts like Afro Appalachian folk artist Mon Rovia. Add to that acts like Jon Muq who truly stunned us during his set at Rockefeller Chapel, and Katie Gavin shifting the spotlight from her work with Muna to her solo efforts. There's also so much local flavor added to the mix with Free Range, Nora O'Connor, Andrew Sa, Corky Siegel, The Sullivan Sisters, Minor Moon & V.V. Lightbody (which we highly recommend you check out their respective albums, The Light Up Waltz and Make a Shrine or Burn It), Dom Flemons, Mark Dvorak, Sones De Mexico, and Sons of the Never Wrong. That's an impressively long list of local acts and something that more festivals should take note of. The fest will also feature conversations in the WBEZ Tent. Talks are with the likes of Rufus Wainwright, Jeff Tweedy, Greg Kot, and so many more!

Then there are the aftershows that are as enticing as the festival . While a couple of them are sold out (Gillian Welch & David Rawlings and Deer Tick were the first to go), there are still tons of worthwhile offerings. Check out the lineup below and grab your tickets before they disappear.

The Evanston Folk Festival will be taking place on September 7 & 8 at Dawes Park, 1700 Sheridan Rd, Evanston. Two day passes are sold out, but there are still single day tickets available! Saturday tickets are 59.50 while Sunday tickets are $69.50.
