Daisies is a restaurant in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood that offers Italian cuisine with a warm familial influence. Joe Frillman, Daisies' chef and owner, works closely with his brother Tim Frillman, who runs their family’s farm in Michigan. Plus, their sister, artist Carrie Frillman, has left her mark on the restaurant through custom artwork and greeting cards. Her work is also interconnected with the restaurant’s offerings: Illustrations feature the Chicago Style Hot Dog Croissant (a new twist on a classic), The Overpriced Tomato (a delicious piece of satire), and the Beet Agnolotti (a veggie take on an Italian staple).

Transforming Daisies into part art gallery, part restaurant, Carrie Frillman’s work is often sold straight off the walls of the original Daisy location, and she hasn't slowed down since the move to Logan Square. The restaurant's farm-to-table appeal comes from the family’s agricultural roots, so Carrie's paintings often capture the splendor of fresh produce. "As an artist and a girl who grew up on the farm, I love showing people where their food comes from," she says. “A lot of people generally don't know what’s seasonally available and what grows in our region, and it's a fun way to open their eyes to it.” The artist's unique inspiration and story come together through watercolors on canvas, reminding customers of the beauty and usefulness of everyday objects.
