Gallery: Don’t Miss It! Chicago Botanic Garden’s India Blooms Enters Final Weekend

Midwesterners talk about the weather a lot. We try to avoid it, but with the way things have been this past week, let’s face it: March isn’t the time for that. One day it’s grey and snowy, the next tornadoes and green skies. And sure, there’s the rare near summer day with 70s and 80s where we run to the lakefront, but for the most part, this is ‘lousy Smarch weather’ the way only Chicago can dish it up.

What’s nice about February and March is that there’s some really great indoor getaways that can make you feel like you’re a million miles away from the doldrums of late winter/early Spring. One of my favorite ways to enjoy a quick trip out of the SAD-inducing surrounds is to head to the Chicago Botanic Garden for their annual Orchid Show.

If you’ve never been, each year the Regenstein Center bursts forth into bloom with thousands upon thousands of delicate blooms. The theme is different but the exotic blooms are always showstoppers. This year, it’s all about where these gorgeous flowers can be found, with India Blooms celebrating the homeland of hundreds of these beauties.

There’s a very limited time left to see this show, and if you’ve got some time and want to get out of the grey and into a place bursting with color, we recommend checking out the India Blooms Orchid Show before it closes Sunday.
