WHAT: The Puerto Rican community is welcoming Oscar Lopez Rivera home. The Puerto Rican independence activist, imprisoned for 35 years, was recently released from prison after President Barack Obama commuted his sentence. Oscar co-founded Chicago’s Puerto Rican Cultural Center 45 years ago. This is the event schedule:

4pm – Welcoming at La Casita de Don Pedro
4:30pm – March to the Unveiling of Oscar Lopez Rivera Road
5pm – March to the Humboldt Park Boathouse for Main Event
5:30pm – Main Event for Oscar Lopez Rivera

SO WHAT: The event is hosted by the National Boricua Human Rights Network. Read more about Oscar here and here.

NOW WHAT: Be at 2625 W. Division for the start of the event and march with the crowd for the welcoming ceremony at the boathouse. Free admission.

  1. This is not only absurd but also very offensive to all Americans the values Law&Order. There in NOTHING OscarLópez could say that could bring peace to all the fallen by FLAN cowardly terror attacks.
