WHAT: Chili by way of synths
SO WHAT: It took a while before Empty Bottle realized just how well synthesizers and chili went together, but since 2011’s inaugural Synthesizer Chili Cook Off, the pair have been a mainstay of aural/oral excellence. Each musician prepares a synth-based “sonic interpretation” of the chili they make and the audience decides whose pairing is most accurate (with the winner then being allowed to return for next year’s cook off). This year the show is hosted by Sarah Squirm and the contenders include Mike Broers (defending champ), Whitney Johnsonm Jordan Zawideh, and Tim Nordberg.
