WHAT: The 5th Annual Chicago Mariachi Festival, the largest mariachi event in the U.S.
SO WHAT: Mariachi Heritage Foundation, the National Museum of Mexican Art and the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events come together to present an evening of mariachi music. The tradition that mariachi holds goes back at least to the 18th century and has evolved into the powerful and influential musical style it is today. Aida Cuevas, Mariachi Herencia de México, Mariachi Juvenil Tecalitlan, and Mariachi Aztlán of the University of Texas-Río Grande Valley will be delivering some beautiful mariachi sounds.
NOW WHAT: The Chicago Mariachi Festival is free and open to the public. Free seating on the Great Lawn and in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion Seating Bowl is available on a first come first serve basis. You can purchase VIP seats by making a $50 donation to Mariachi Heritage Foundation.
