Let's look past the current state of freezing temps and icy roads to a warmer, more inviting season where festivals rule the weekends. It's never too early to start planning your summer weekends especial when lineups like Empty Bottle Presents’ Warm Love Cool Dreams get announced.
Warm Love Cool Dreams Music and Arts Festival is coming back to the Salt Shed on May 23-24 for its highly anticipated second edition. It's been quite a while since the last iteration and this time around they are expanding their scope as the fest will be taking over both the indoor and outdoor stages at the Salt Shed including Three Top Lounge and Elston Electric.
The lineup is even more stacked than last year's as they have jam packed the headliners with Australia's premier indie rocker Courtney Barnett, Toro y Moi and his chameleon-like ability to shift between genres, and legendary post-punk band The Jesus and Mary Chain. The rest of the lineup is equally impressive with the likes of Nourished by Time, Kumo 99, Smerz and so many more. And let's not forgot the local love from the fest as Chicago staples like Tortoise, Whitney, Pixel Grip, and Tobacco City are front and center of the lineup.

In addition to all the insanely good music, there will be some incredible artists and vendors at the Oddball Market. You'll have the chance to discover some beautiful art and variety goods including records, vintage clothing, jewelry, books, flash tattoos and more, alongside the Arts of Life Studio Sale, supporting over 80 artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The festival is looking like a wild and wonderful assortment of the best music and art Chicago and the world has to offer. I think festival organizer and director of music at 16" On Center Brent Heyl puts it best: “We wanted to build a festival for the types of bands and artists we love, knowing that there are people out there who love them too. It’s not complicated. These bands rip. These artists and vendors are singular. It’s housed in one of the greatest venues in the country and curated by freaks. Something for your heart and for your mind.”
Warm Love Cool Dreams Music and Arts Festival is taking over the Salt Shed on May 23-24. Tickets go on sale this Friday, February 6, at 10am.
