From farewell seasons to glitter-soaked Christmas chaos, these are the Christmas bars worth checking out while they’re here.

Located on the ground floor of the Chicago Athletic Association, Happy’s is back for one final season. Running December 4 through January 16, they’re leaning fully into the nostalgia that made it a holiday staple. The farewell run invites guests back into the Tank for a last round, surrounded by décor that evokes the cozy warmth of a grandmother’s basement.

Signature cocktails return alongside rotating programming and weekly events. If you’re a longtime fan or are hearing about it for the first time, it’s definitely a pop-up worth checking out.

Holiday Honky Tonk at Big Star Wrigleyville

Located just steps from the Christkindlmarket at Gallagher Way, Big Star Wrigleyville’s Holiday Honky Tonk returns for the season with a Nashville-inspired take on Christmas cheer. Running from November 21 through January 2, the taqueria transforms into a glittering, country-forward holiday pop-up, complete with twinkling lights, rhinestone hats, and a soundtrack blending holiday classics and modern country favorites.

Seasonal cocktails keep spirits high, from the glittery Rhinestone Rita to a Winter Old Fashioned made with bourbon and apple cider syrup. Loud, busy, and unapologetically festive, this is a Christmas bar for people who want a lively destination.

Location: 3640 N Clark St

Hours: Mon-Thu 4-10 pm | Fri-Sat 11 am-11 pm | Sun 11 am-9 pm

Reservations: Walk-ins are welcome. Reservations are accepted and can be made on OpenTable.

Krampus at DMen Tap

Krampus at DMen Tap offers a darker, more irreverent alternative to traditional Christmas bars. Inspired by the Alpine folklore figure known for punishing the naughty rather than rewarding the nice, the pop-up leans into shadowy décor, myth, and mischief rather than cheer.

That tone makes it a natural counterpoint to the city’s more whimsical holiday pop-ups. On December 23, DMen Tap will also host a Festivus celebration, adding a tongue-in-cheek holiday twist and an extra reason to stop by before Christmas.

Santa Baby Bar at Stolen Saddle

Santa Baby Bar goes all in on their holiday spectacle. The immersive pop-up by Bucketlisters fills Stolen Saddle in Wrigleyville with thousands of Christmas lights, sparkling ornaments, and vibrant seasonal décor. It is playful, bright, and fully committed to the fantasy of the season.

Guests can sip seasonal cocktails (The Grinch is my personal favorite), take in the over-the-top visuals, and settle into an atmosphere that prioritizes joy and indulgence. Spanning three floors plus a patio, Santa Baby Bar stands out as one of the largest Christmas pop-ups in Chicago.

Mistletoe at Mordecai Cocktail Bar & Restaurant

Mistletoe at Mordecai offers a quieter, more refined take on the holiday bar experience. This season, the pop-up moves downstairs to the first-floor dining room, where the space is transformed into a cozy winter setting centered on a limited-time holiday cocktail and food menu. With the focus on well-crafted drinks and a warm atmosphere, rather than spectacle, Mistletoe runs through January 3 and is best suited for quiet evenings, date nights, and smaller groups looking to enjoy the season at a more measured pace.

Location: 3632 N Clark St

Rudolph’s Bar at Lost Never Found

Bucketlisters’ Rudolph’s Bar returns to Lost Never Found for the season, transforming the space into Candy Cane Lane. The Wrigleyville pop-up leans heavily into pink and silver décor, peppermint twists, oversized candy canes, and glowing holiday accents that make every corner photo-ready.

This year, the experience expands to include the rooftop, adding another festive layer to the pop-up. Rooftop tickets start at $22 and include a welcome drink, a holiday shot, and a candy cane. For a full dining experience, table reservations on the first floor are available. Rudolph’s Bar is an easy pick for festive girls’ nights out or anyone drawn to a pink, candy-colored take on a Christmas pop-up.

Each igloo accommodates up to eight guests, with a larger option available for groups of up to ten, making it well-suited for intimate gatherings and small celebrations. Paired with winter-themed drinks and city views, it remains one of Chicago’s most polished holiday rooftop experiences, with the pop-up running through January 25 for those looking to extend the season a little longer.
