High Concept Labs Spring Open House
High Concept Labs never disappoints.
From dance workshops, to late night performances, and Butoh classes, the organization is a pivotal resource to the arts community in the soothed and beyond. To continue proving that point, HCL will be hosting a Spring Open House on Saturday, May 14th inside of their location at Mana Contemporary in Pilsen. The biannual Open House, which celebrates performance, installation, music, and film, from HCL's past and present sponsored artists.
This year highlighted performances include The Honey Pot Performance, Mariah Karson, The Dilettantes, and many more. High Concept Labs sponsors a variety of artists, musicians, performers, and experimenters — this event allows for the audience to visually see the diversity over drinks and treats.

The Honey Pot Performance, an AfroSurrealist performance collective has been rip-roaring through the Chicago arts scene — they are inspired by black feminist thought and interact with audience members through poetry, dance, music, and heritage. HPP was a 2014 sponsored artist for High Concept Labs.
The photographer, Mariah Karson works with the experimental project called, Modern David, which is a collection of photographs of people by the name of David. Each "David" is posed similarly, yet each image is different. During her time as a HCL sponsored artist, Karson continued her project and worked on framing and printing 100 life size photographs from Modern David.
The Dilettantes, formed in 2012, incorporate live games into interactive discussions and strive to explore the unexpected outcomes of human interaction within the confines of a room. They are 2016 HCL artists.
Various other participating artists at the Spring Open House include: MC Andy North, Joe BBall / Joe Miller, The Humans, Elise Cowin, Deidre Huckabay, Kristina Isabelle Dance Company, LlaboratoryCo, Nadia Oussenko, Victoria Bradford & Todd Mattei, Nicole Mauser, Courtney Mackedanz, Dalia Chin of Fonema Consort, Coppice, Mitsu Salmon & Simon Briggs, Vaudeo Motion, and Scrappers Film Group.
